Jewelweed Honey
Our honeybees make this rare honey from native jewelweed flowers that blossom in late August and through September in Minnesota.
This flower leaves a unique signature on visiting honeybees as the flowers anthers rub on the bees as they enter the flower to load up on the nectar, leaving a white stripe of pollen on the bees' backs. The stripe is visible on the bees as they enter the hive!.
Jewelweed honey has a bold herbal flavor profile with a citrus finish.
We have very limited quantities of this honey available.
I bought this because it was a limited supply honey and I had never encountered it before. Like all the honey I have purchased from Ames Farms, it was fantastic! I like to keep different varieties/flavors of honey on hand for when friends stop by for coffee. Ames Farms is my "single source" for the honey in my house!!
A taste all to itself. A pleasant surprise. A delight.
I purchased both the Jewelweed and Fall Aster limited honeys.
They are uniquely different each has a subtle flavor of the flowers
